WHAT IS HOOPFEST canada?

Hoop Fest is the youngest 3on3 Basketball tournament in North America. WHAT IMPACT DOES HOOPFEST WEEKEND HAVE ON THE LOCAL ECONOMY?

Hoopfest weekend brings a combination of both, sports and entertainment to the downtown core of the forest city, with thousands of attendees from all over North America.

WHAT ARE THE DAT​ES OF HOOPFES​​T canada?

The event will take place on August 17 & 18, 2019! 

HOW MANY GAMES IS EACH TEAM GUARANTEED?

Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games. 

HOW LONG IS EACH GAME?

Each game is 20 minutes. However, the target score for all games is 21 points, meaning the first team to reach 21 points,within 20 minutes of play is declared the winner.

HOW TALL ARE THE BASKETS?

The baskets will be adjusted accordingly, it can range from 8’-10’.

WHAT IS THE DISTANCE OF THE FREE-THROW LINE?

Grades 3 and 4 will shoot from a distance of 10′, while all other grades and ages will shoot from a distance of 15′.

WHEN DOES HOOPFEST REGISTRATION OPEN?

Registration for Hoopfest Canada is currently open.

CAN I GET A REFUND FOR TEAM ENTRY?

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR TEAM ENTRIES.

DO ALL TEAM MEMBERS HAVE TO BE THE SAME GRADE/AGE?

No. You can build your team however you like. Keep in mind however, its preferred that you select members who are within the same age category provided. That it may not be possible to bracket teams with very diverse player characteristics against other teams of similar makeup. Youth and high school teams will be bracketed by grade-level according the highest grade-level on the team.

CAN I PLAY ON MORE THAN ONE TEAM?

While we do allow individuals to play on more than one team (teams must be in dissimilar brackets), we cannot control game schedules to guard against scheduling conflicts. Individuals playing on multiple teams could have multiple games scheduled at the same time.

WHEN IS THE TEAM ENTRY DEADLINE?

In order to guarantee your desired division, Hoopfest Canada must receive your completed registration form on or before the guaranteed deadline, which is on August 15th, 2019.

I WENT THROUGH THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS, BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO COMPLETE THE PAYMENT STEP AT THE END. IS MY TEAM REGISTERED?

No. In order for the online registration to be submitted and processed, the payment step must be completed successfully. Upon successful completion of the payment step, a receipt will be sent to the email address entered during the payment process. Once the team registration has been fully processed, the team captain will receive a team entry confirmation email within 24 hours containing the team number as well as other vital tournament information.

CAN WE ENTER A CO-ED TEAM WITH ONLY ONE MEMBER OF THE OPPOSITE SEX?

Yes. Keep in mind, however, that co-ed teams must have members of the opposite sex on the court at all times. Therefore, on a team with three males and one female, the female would have to play the entire time, each game with no rest. If this female would become injured or otherwise unable to play, then the entire team would be disqualified.

WHERE DO I SIGN-UP TO VOLUNTEER?

WHAT DO I RECEIVE FOR VOLUNTEERING?

All volunteers receive a T-shirt, volunteer hours and possibly free giveaways.

WHEN AND WHERE DO COURT MONITORS CHECK-IN PRIOR TO HOOPFEST?

Court Monitor’s check-in will be on August 15th, 2019. S.W.I.M office – 296 Horton St E, London, ON

IS COURT MONITOR TRAINING REQUIRED?

Yes. The training changes slightly every year, depending on points of emphasis. We require each monitor to attend the training session. You will receive an email for the particular day of training a week prior to Hoopfest Canada.

HOW AND WHEN WILL I LEARN ABOUT MY VOLUNTEER SHIFT AND LOCATION?

All volunteers will be contacted by email or phone, one week prior to the event, in order to attend a full day of orientation and training session.

 

DO COURT MONITORS NEED TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BASKETBALL?

Yes, knowledge about basketball is required.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME FOR VOLUNTEERING?

Hoopfest Canada will provide water and lunch, but it’s a good idea to bring your own food and water as well. Make sure to check the weather and bring a sunscreen or jacket if necessary.

IS PARKING INCLUDED?

No. We do provide our volunteers with a listing of available parking garages and other locations.

WANT TO SPONSOR A TEAM?

While some teams elect to recruit team sponsors to help cover the cost of registration, this is solely the responsibility of the team, as Hoopfest does not recruit or provide individual team sponsors. You or your business can receive a complimentary team entry by becoming a Hoopfest 2019 section partner Sponsor​.

HOW MANY LEVELS OF SPONSORS ARE THERE?

There are six levels of sponsorship: Diamond, Platinum, Multi and Face Starter and Partner, Section partner.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR UNIFORMS?

Each team is required to wear the Hoopfest uniform. Must be worn at all times when playing the game.

Uniforms must be worn properly – shirttails must be tucked in. If the requirements are not met, the team will be subject to disciplinary action including incurring technical fouls and possibly forfeiting the game.

Please refer to the HFC rules for additional uniform requirements/rules.

WHAT IF MY ATHLETE ISN’T ON A TEAM?

While HFC does not form teams, we do try to help connect non-rostered players with teams through the interested players list. The interested players list is available to any coach looking to fill his or her roster and can be received via mail or Email by Hoopfest Canada office. Please be sure to include the gender and age level of the list you are asking for (i.e. 7-12, year old girls).

Parents or guardians who would like to place a child on the interested players list should call the office at, (519) 432-5454. If you are adding a player to the list, please have information including player name, birth date, school, grade, height, organized basketball experience, and parent/guardian contact information (address, phone number) available.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH TEAM IS HOME OR VISITOR?

Your team is always listed second on the schedule. Upon registering at the gate each player will then receive a Red or Blue flag, per team. Home teams will receive a red flag and visitor teams will receive a blue one.
